Those of you having any involvement with social media in Westchester, NY (that probably includes you if you’re reading this article) are no doubt familiar with Sandro Ore and his on-line start-up Knowtorious Deals. I just learned today that Sandro has partnered with Food Bank for Westchester to raise money and awareness for one of Westchester County, N.Y.’s most beloved charities.

Under the arrangements announced in a press release issued today by Food Bank for Westchester, KnowtoriousDeals.com will donate a portion of every coupon sold from its website to the charity devoted to providing food to those in need throughout the county. The fundraiser will run from now until December 31, 2010.

KnowtoriousDeals.com was founded with the intention of highlighting local businesses and driving new customers to those businesses. Consumers register with KnowtoriousDeals.com to receive news of exclusive deals offered only to KnowtoriousDeals.com members for a limited time. Consumers save anywhere from 50% to 95% off retail prices at restaurants, retails establishments, and services, all in Westchester and Fairfield counties.

The Food Bank for Westchester distributes more than 6 million pounds of food annually to over 200 member organizations like soup kitchens, food pantries, and day-care centers. It’s driven almost entirely by volunteer hours and donations, and serves over 30 cities, villages and towns in Westchester County.

Sandro Ore, founder of KnowtoriousDeals.com, said, “This is a unique opportunity for our startup company to help a Westchester institution, and exercise our responsibility to give back to our community. We are honored to contribute to the efforts of the food bank and hope many consumers will take advantage of this turn-key way to help as well.”

Consumers can register with KnowtoriousDeals.com immediately and start taking advantage of the deals offered almost daily. The website will then automatically tally a portion of the sale price of the deal to benefit the food bank. The total amount raised will be calculated and donated in January, 2011. For more information about The Food Bank for Westchester, log on to foodbankforwestchester.org.
